Mable M. Ford

Amory – Mable Ford, 81, passed away on Tuesday, March 8, 2016, at Merit Health Gilmore Memorial. Born on June 10, 1934, in Monroe County, she was a daughter of the late E. C. “Jim” and Mary Alice Miller Miller.

Mable attended Hatley School. On August 6, 1950, she married Clovis “Punk” Ford. For 33 years, Mable was a seamstress for Monroe Trousers. A great Christian lady who was a champion for Christ and paved the way for others to know Christ as their Lord and Savior, she was a life-long member of New Hope Baptist Church. She loved her church and enjoyed teaching the Singles’ Class. Mable was a shining example of selfless service to her church, family, and friends. From preparing meals for family and friends to the “open door” policy she practiced at her home, Mable could always be depended on to help those in need, regardless of their circumstances.

One who dearly loved her family, Mable was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and caregiver. Full-of-life and always having fun, Mable was a great prankster and enjoyed getting the last laugh. Having a contagious smile and an infectious sense of humor, Mable was a blessing and brought joy to everyone who knew her. She enjoyed Gospel music, camping, grilling, and traveling. Mable was famous for her green beans and banana pudding. Her eternal optimism, joking nature, and love of life are among her most endearing qualities that will be treasured as tradition by those who loved her and knew her best.
