Tremont – Lola Lecile “Lucy” Camp Markham, 89, died on Thursday, March 10, 2011, at her residence. Born on July 25, 1921, in Itawamba County, she was a daughter of the late Tester Leech and Henry Arnt Camp, Sr.
A very loving, faithful and caring Christian lady, Lucy was a member of Hopewell United Methodist Church and attended Liberty Grove Baptist church. She lived in the Bethlehem Community for 43 years and moved to Tremont after her husband died. Lucy worked as a seamstress in the garment industry in Monroe County. She enjoyed visiting with people, listening to Gospel music, crocheting, and loved her flowers and gardening. Lucy had a big heart for the children’s ministries at St. Jude Children’s Hospital and Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital.
She is survived by a brother, Henry Arnt “Junior” (Lucille) Camp, Jr., Florence, AL; sister-in-law, Gwindolen (Johnnie) Webster, Jacksonville, FL; niece and caregiver, Jemmie Lynn (Bobby) Fowler, Tremont; several other nieces and nephews; and many special friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, Ravis Ray Markham; sisters, Irene Coker, Geneva Sullivan and Evele Wilson; and brother, Clevis Camp.
A Funeral Service will be held at 2 PM, Saturday at E. E. Pickle Funeral Home, Smithville with Bro. Tommy Whaley and Bro. Bobby Fowler officiating. Burial will follow in Young Memorial Garden. Pallbearers will be Arnie Camp, Leroy Camp, Tommy Poole, Charles Anthony, Noel Kennedy, Larry Cox and Bobby Cox.
Visitation will be from 5 – 8 PM, Friday at the funeral home in Smithville.
