Lucrecia Rose Kidd
Amory – Lucrecia Rose Kidd, 82, began her new life in Heaven on Tuesday, June 27, 2023. She was born on April 16, 1941, in Amory, Mississippi to the late James William Kidd and Ruth Welch Kidd.
Lucrecia grew up in Amory, MS and learned at an early age to appreciate the fine and beautiful things in life. After high school, she continued her education at IJC and later at The Memphis College of Arts where she majored in Fine Art. Throughout her education, she maintained a perfect 4.0 grade point average as she loved art. Talented, Lucrecia could draw and paint anything, often times turning something boring into something fabulous. She was passionate about art, and her life’s gift was making things beautiful with such ease. Lucrecia was a professional artist and her job was not a job to her, it was her life’s masterpiece. She loved God and was a member of First United Methodist Church in Amory, MS.
In her downtime, she loved to spend precious time with her family and her nieces and nephews considered her the best Aunt in the world. Lucrecia was a great cook and was well known for her Mississippi Mud cakes and pecan pies. An intellectual, she read many books during her lifetime and was well versed in art history and cultures around the world. Some of her greatest accomplishments were her several pieces of artwork as well as introducing her nieces and nephews into the vast cultures this life has to offer. Lucrecia had some great sayings, some of them being that she had “miles to go before I sleep”, “all lost like tears in the rain” and “There once was a little girl with a curl on her forehead”.
She loved all sorts of music, but she especially liked the Police and their lead singer, Sting. Lucrecia appreciated all that God had given her and her family, and she very passionate about caring for and protecting the environment. She was kind to all animals and ensured that they were always treated with love. One of her best friends was Judy Rainy, whom she was friends with since they were little kids.
Lucrecia appreciated fine art and all that God had given her in her lifetime, especially His saving grace. She will be missed dearly yet her beautiful legacy will live on in the masterpieces she passed on.
She is survived by her sister, Mary Kidd Holt, Mantachie, MS; brother, William Lee Kidd (Morsha), Fort Bragg, CA; a host of nieces and nephews, especially Nikki Moore; her lifelong and best friend, Judy Rainey. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Yolanda Kidd Johnson; infant brother, Jerry Louis Kidd.
In memory of Lucrecia, it is asked that a tree or flowers are planted somewhere to help the planet.
