Smithville – Lucille E. Parker, 86, died on Wednesday, April 27, 2011, as a result of the Smithville tornado. Born on March 15, 1925, in Folkstone, NC, she was a daughter of the late Rodolph and Delphia Bain Everett.
Mrs. Parker attended Dixon High School, Holly Ridge, NC. She was a homemaker and a member of Cross Bound Church. Mrs. Parker was a former church preschool teacher, served as a church secretary and sang alto in the church choir. A classy, loving and unselfish lady, her family, faith and church were her life. Known for her great cooking, especially her famous pimento and cheese and fruitcakes, Mrs. Parker would feed everyone who came to her home. She was a former member of the Hookerton Home Demonstration Club. Mrs. Parker enjoyed sewing, reading, and singing hymns and contemporary praise music.
She is survived by her daughters, Linda (Ron) Blanks, West Plains, MO, and Vickie (John) Clingan, Smithville; son, Randy (Patricia) Parker, Smithville; grandchildren, Cindy Clingan (Shannon) O’Dell, Lead Hill, AR, Richie (Crystal) Blanks, West Plains, MO, Jennifer (Ben) Ryan, Joelton, TN, Mark (Happie) Clingan, Smithville, Ryan (Charla) Blanks, Kansas City, MO, Carl (Krystle) Parker, Tupelo, and Alex (Hollye) Parker, Smithville; great-grandchildren, Anna, Evan, Sara, and K. J. O’Dell; Jared and Zack Blanks; Evan, Ella, and Eli Ryan; Jake and Gabriella Blanks; Aiden Parker; and Katilyn and Austin Mask; sisters, Hazel Hines, Luella Davis, Holly Ridge, NC, Doris Schindewolf, Canal, OH, and Billie Coston, Holly Ridge, NC; a host of nieces and nephews; and special friend, Lucy H. Hill, Hookerton, NC. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, C. A. Parker, and a brother, Wayne Everett.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10 AM, Monday, May 2, 2011, at E. E. Pickle Funeral Home with Pastor Ron Blanks and Pastor Shannon O’Dell officiating. Burial will follow in Haughton Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Mark Clingan, Richie and Ryan Blanks, Ben Ryan, and Carl and Alex Parker. Honorary pallbearers will be the church leadership at CrossBound Church.
Visitation will be from 5 – 8 PM, Sunday at the funeral home.
