Amory – Amanda Louise Miles Powell, 83, died on Tuesday, September 14, 2010 at Gilmore Memorial Regional Medical Center. Born on November 27, 1926, in Hatley, MS, she was a daughter of the late Woodruff Eli ‘Rusty’ and Cora Purnie Davis Miles. She attended Trace Road Schools.
She married James Andrew Powell in 1956. Mrs. Powell was a homemaker and employed by Bill and Jim’s Friendship House. A member of Trace Road Baptist Church, she enjoyed shopping and traveling. Mrs. Powell raised and took great care of her grandson, Frankie.
She is survived by her two brothers, Jimmy Miles and wife Willie L of Aberdeen and Billy R Miles and wife Edith of Verona; sister, Lillie Mae Blake of Amory; special friends, Helen West; several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by daughter, Paulette Miller; 3 grandchildren, Frankie Miller, Jerome Miller and Mary Elizabeth Miller.
A funeral service for Louise M. Powell will be held at 2:00 PM, Thursday at Pickle Funeral Home with Bro. Tommy Whaley officiating. Burial will be in Haughton Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Neil Palmer, Will Fowlkes, Van Miles, Kenneth Miles, Jeff Boozer, and Barrett Clark.
Visitation will continue until time for the service to begin.
