Louie Bernice Roberts Myatt

Amory – Louie Bernice Roberts Myatt, 99, met her Savior face to face and was reunited with her husband, grandchildren, and the rest of her beloved family whom she missed dearly. She was born on December 30, 1922, in the Quincy Community to the late Earnest Clay Roberts and Bernice Tubb Roberts.

Louie grew up in Monroe County with three other siblings and she graduated from Greenwood Springs High School as the Salutatorian. Having lived basically a full century, Louie experienced many things in her lifetime, including wars, depressions, times of prosperity, some sorrow and joy. She learned to not take one day for granted, to serve others selflessly and she did so with grace and kindness. Louie married the love of her life, Benton Greely Myatt at a young age and they were blessed with three children. She worked to help support her family at Amory Garment Factory where she made many friendships over the thirty plus years she worked there.

Since 1947, Louie was an active member of First Baptist Church in Amory. She served in many capacities, including as a Sunday school teacher, a Vacation Bible School worker, as well as volunteer in preschool-nursery departments. Her faith in God was what motivated her every day to love, care and always speak life into others. She never spoke a negative word about another and she made so many wonderful friends through the years. Louie loved to listen to and sing old Hymns. She was passionate about her church family and helping St. Jude children.

In her free time, she liked to spend precious time with her family. She loved to find treasures at yard sales to give to others. Louie loved doing anything outside, especially gardening, where her green thumb was evident in the beautiful flowers and vegetables she grew. She also liked to keep a clean yard and mowing was never a chore it was a joy to her.

Louie cared about everyone and the warmth of her kind spirit was always felt by those around her. Many will call themselves blessed to have been friends with her. The grandchildren affectionally called her Mama Myatt. They always knew that she would have a dollar for them no matter what the occasion. Her children and family will miss Louie dearly yet they know it was a sweet home going for her and she is exactly where she wants to be. Until we meet again Louie.
