Lorene Justice Woods
Lorene J. Woods, 94, passed away on October 25, 2017, at her residence. Born on January 2, 1923, in Detroit, AL, she was a daughter of the late Orland Davis and Ova Weeks Justice.
Lorene attended Byrd Jr. High School in Detroit, AL. She was a wonderful wife and mother and was blessed with four children. For nearly 16 years, she worked as a Nurses’ Aide at Gilmore Memorial and she also worked as a “surge” seamstress with Longneckers. She loved the Lord and was a member of First Baptist Church.
A very gracious and giving lady, Lorene dearly loved all of her family. She was a loving wife, mother and always had love for others. Lorene had a close relationship with her mom and a strong love for her. As a wonderful and hardworking mother herself, she took pride in a job well done. An avid reader, she enjoyed cooking and listening to Christian music. Her memories will be cherished and will live on in her families’ hearts.
She is survived by her daughter, Barbara A. Ritter, Amory; Carol Cunningham (Floyd), Jacksonville, FL; Myra L. Whitmer (Michael), Hopkinsville, KY; son, J. Roy Parham, Sr. (Elouise), Amory; grandchildren, Dr. Monica Parham-Li, James Parham, Jr., Joseph Parham, Shalley Bishop and Keith Cunningham; 4 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, Bertis W. Woods, she was preceded in death by a sister, Dean Kendrick; and brothers, O. D. and James E. Justice; granddaughter, Tenya Sperry and great-grandsons, Daniel and Neil.
Her Funeral Service will be at 2 PM, Saturday, October 28, 2017 at E. E. Pickle Funeral Home with Dr. Allen Simpson and Bro. Jimmy McFatter officiating. Burial will follow in Haughton Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Jimmy and Joey Parham; Scott and Lee Wright; Keith Cunningham; Ray Bishop.
Visitation will be from 12 – 1:50 PM, Saturday at the funeral home.
