Hatley, Miss.—Lois Lafern South Tubb, 91, died on Tuesday, December 18, 2012 at her home. Born December 20, 1920 in Casey, Ill., she was a daughter of the late Robert Otis and Leota Lafern Downey South.
She grew up in Chicago and attended schools there. She married Woodrow Ernest Tubb in December 1940; he died in June 1999. She later married Jewel Clinton Tubb in January 2001; he died in March 2004. She graduated Bakersfield Junior College in Bakersfield, CA and worked as a nurse before her retirement. She was a member of the Church of Christ.
A private graveside service will be held at 11 am, Thursday, December 20, 2012, at the Hatley Cemetery with Bobby Cleveland officiating. E.E. Pickle Funeral Home of Amory is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include two daughters, Charlotte Tubb Gann (Thomas) of Hatley and Carolyn Tubb Gaskill (Ed) of Fayetteville, AR; son-in-law, Jerry Brown (Jo) of Texas; one brother, Ted South of California; 8 grandchildren, Lisa Blanke, Holly Williams, Cheryl Matthews, Bobbi Gallegos, Rachel New, Michael Brown, Jeremy Brown, and Ernest Gann; and 14 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands; daughter, Malinda Brown; two brothers, Stan South and Bob South; and two sisters, Bonnie Heller and Rosemary Legeur.
Visitation will be from 9 am until 10:30 am on Thursday at the funeral home.
