Lois Marie Wise Garner, 79, passed away on Tuesday, November 28, 2017 at the North Mississippi Medical Center. Born on October 16, 1938 in Savannah, Georgia, she was a daughter of the late Oscar and Marie Wise. Lois graduated with the class of 1957 at Effingham County High School in Georgia. She married Wayne Garner on April 15, 1958. Together they were blessed with 3 daughters. She was a member of Grady’s Chapel United Methodist Church where she served as the church secretary/treasurer. Lois was employed with Tecumseh Products until her retirement.

An avid Braves fan, she also enjoyed flea markets, crossword puzzles, word search puzzles, and playing cards. She and Wayne also enjoyed traveling with Peggy and Bud Harlow. She was passionate about supporting LaBonheur Children’s Hospital, St. Jude’s Children Hospital, and the St. Joseph’s Indian School.

Lois’s family guided her throughout her life. Shopping and traveling with her children and grandchildren was a precious time. She spent many hours with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, cherishing each moment with them. Her family and friends will miss her words of encouragement and love.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Cindy Sheffield, brother Lamar Wise, and brother-in-law, Dan Harris.,

Mrs. Garner is survived by her husband, Wayne Garner; Daughters: Laura Puddister (David), Aberdeen, Sherry Ford (Mike), Hamburg, AR; a sister, Jean Harris, Jonesboro, GA; a brother, Quinton Wise (Barbara), Rincon, GA; Grandchildren: Emily Mattingly (Michael), Jordan Garner, Durand House( Tiffani), Sarah Ballard (Brandon), Keith Ford (Sarah), Kanaan Ford (Samantha), Melissa White (Brooks), Brandy Riggs (Doug); Great grandchildren: Parker Robertson, Audrey Mattingly, Lilly and Barley Ballard, Kristopher House, Michael, Marshall, and Shelby Ford, Brooklyn Latham, Lock White, Cora and Parker Riggs; numerous nieces and nephews; special friends, Claudine Kirby and Jean Alexander.

A celebration of life service for Lois Garner will be held at 1 PM, Friday, December 1 at
E. E. Pickle Funeral Home, Amory, with Rev. Tommy Monts officiating. Burial will follow in Masonic Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jordan, Terry, Donnie, Ronnie and Ricky Garner; Durand House, Steven Carpenter, and Kenny Roberts. Honorary pallbearers will be the men of Grady’s Chapel United Methodist Church.

Visitation for Mrs. Garner will be from 5-8 PM, Thursday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Grady’s Chapel Methodist Church, Building Fund, c/o Doris Archer, 30031 Lake Monroe Road, Aberdeen, MS 39730.
