Lois Anne Sisk Blankenship
Memphis - Lois Anne Sisk Blankenship, 89, died on Wednesday, June 29, 2016 at Signature Health Care of Memphis. Born June 25, 1927 in Amory, Mississippi, she was a daughter of the late Thomas B. Sisk and Beulah Roberts Sisk.
She was a graduate of Amory High School. Lois was raised as a member of the Methodist Church however she converted to Catholicism as a young woman in Memphis. She was a sassy, down to earth, funny friend and Aunt who was very sentimental and emotional. She was a genuine Southern Belle who was ladylike, proper, put together, beautiful and a little ornery at times. During her lengthy career in the cotton industry in Memphis, Lois worked at Anderson Clayton; McFadden; Dunavant; The Julien Company; Calvin Turley and ACM. Basketball was perhaps her favorite sport and she was a huge fan of the Memphis Grizzlies and the University of Memphis Tigers. Being a devoted fan, she knew everything about all of the players and coaches. In her spare time, she loved listening to the “old, real” country music, Elvis, George Strait and Frank Sinatra.
Survivors include her nieces, Marsha Christian Crabtree (Ron), Chattanooga, TN, Susie Christian Clark (Robert), San Antonio, TX; nephews, Michael Christian, Louisville, KY, Stephen Kolderup (Jan), Frenchtown, NJ; great-nephews, Scott Crouch (Sache), Brian Christian (Sarah), Davin Kolderup (Christina), and Casey Kolderup (Gretchen); great- niece, Casey Christian. She was also survived by her special friends: Eileen Findley, Portage, MI; Phyllis Scott, Memphis TN; Nan Miller, Columbus, MS; Lee and Dorinda Miller, Amory; Vickie Moore, Memphis, TN; Bobby Walton, Memphis, Tn.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Harold Sisk; sisters, Elizabeth Sisk Hinkel, Mary Sue Sisk Christian, and Virginia Sisk Kolderup; niece, Susan Kolderup Cushing.
A Funeral Service will be 11 a.m. Friday, July 8, 2016, at the E.E. Pickle Funeral Home Chapel, in Amory with Sister Lael Niblick of the St. Helen Catholic Church officiating. Burial will follow in the Masonic Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Michael Christian, Stephen Kolderup, Scott Crouch, and Robert Clark.
Visitation will be 10:00 – 10:50 on Friday, July 8, 2016 at the funeral home.
