Amory– Lisa Gail Lovvorn Merritt, 53, passed away on Tuesday, July 4, 2017. Born on June 27, 1964, in Amory, MS, she was a daughter of Gerald and Faye Burrow Lovvorn.

Lisa graduated from Smithville High School with the Class of 1982. She enrolled into the nursing program at Northeast Community College and transferred to IJC, where she graduated in 1987 with an Associates Degree in Nursing. Lisa was a very caring person who had a big heart and she loved being a nurse. She always took great care of people and she was a great mother. Lisa was blessed with three sons during her lifetime. She spent most of her career working at Gilmore Memorial Hospital in Amory in the outpatient surgery center and with home health. Lisa was a member of Harrisburg Baptist Church in Tupelo and she also attended FUMC in Amory.

She was very outgoing and in her free time, she enjoyed wake boarding, skiing, and swimming. She loved the outdoors and going on trips to the beach. She made lasting memories with her family on these trips. She also loved listening to Old-time Rock and Roll. Lisa was especially proud of raising her three sons and getting her nursing degree.

Lisa was truly beautiful inside and out. She was known for her pure heart and her easy-going nature as well as being a perfectionist. She enjoyed living life to the fullest. She always made sure to tell her family just how much she loved them. Her love for her family guided her life and she enjoyed taking family trips and spending holidays with her family. She cherished Hal, her fiancé, who brought much joy into her life. Lisa touched the hearts of many people, and her memory will continue to live on through her family.

Survivors include sons, Luke Summerford, Amory, SGT1 Brandon Merritt, US Navy, Jacksonville, Connor Lane Merritt, Amory; sisters, Beth Childers (Rodney), Amory, Laura Sullivan, Tupelo; grandchildren, Blake Summerford, Kenzlie Merritt, and Ryleigh Summerford; nieces and nephews, Tori Frantz, Katelyn Sullivan; Jake, Brady, Ethan, and Cole Childers; fiancé, Hal Holloway, Amory; special family friends, Keith Merritt, Amory.

She is preceded in death by grandparents, Homer and Dora Ann Kendrick Lovvorn and W.K. and Donnie Wardlaw Burrow.

Her funeral service will be held at 11 A.M. on Saturday, July 8, 2017, at E.E. Pickle Funeral Home, Amory, with Dr. Allen Simpson and Mr. Philip Hathcock officiating. Burial will follow in Haughton Memorial Park, Amory. Pallbearers will be Jearl Ratliff, Nathaniel Ratliff, Talon Holloway, John Hathcock, Jake Childers, Brady Childers, Patrick Holloway, and Todd Mellott. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Joseph Bailey, Dr. Benjamin Boatwright, Dr. Richard Pearson, Ricky Gault, and Bobby Stanford.

Visitation will be from 5-8 P.M. on Friday, July 7, 2017, at E.E. Pickle Funeral Home in Amory.
