Amory – Betty Linda Sandlin, 64, died on Sunday, November 21, 2010, at UAB Hospital, Birmingham. Born on December 23, 1945, in Joiner, AR, she was a daughter of the late William Hayse and Christine Terry Carroll.
Betty was a graduate of Hatley High School, Class of 1965. She worked as a seamstress in the garment industry for several years until deciding to go back to school to Creations Beauty College. Upon graduation, she opened and operated a beauty shop for ten years. A lady of faith, Betty was a member of Victory Baptist Church, Smithville. She had a big heart that was full of compassion for others. Betty enjoyed camping, fishing, sewing, shopping, listening to Gospel music, reading books, working puzzles and playing with her grandchildren. An inspiration to others after her car wreck, Betty’s determination allowed her to overcome her injuries while remaining positive and upbeat.
She is survived by her husband of 45 years, Roy Sandlin, Amory; daughter, Connie (David) Quigley, Medina, TN; sisters, Joyce Lansdell, Nettleton and Martha Harmon, Amory; grandchildren, Ashley Turner, Brooke Parker, Cory Waycaster, Nathan Waycaster, Taylor Brooke Quigley and Trevan Quigley; great-grandchildren, Matthew, Micah and Maddi Turner. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Donna Waycaster.
A Funeral Service will be held at 11 AM, Wednesday at E. E. Pickle Funeral Home, Amory with Bro. Johnny Hughes and Bro. H. V. Brown officiating. Burial will follow in Calvary Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Eddie Harlow, Bill Lansdell, Eddie Pennington, Raymond Clark, Garry Carroll and P. K. Caples.
Visitation will be from 5 – 8 PM, Tuesday at the funeral home.
