Linda Rye Cobb
Amory – Linda Mae Rye Cobb, 77, met her Savior face to face on Thursday, September 28, 2023. She was born on October 21, 1945, in Birmingham, Alabama to the late Cecil Rye and Peggy Kendall Stout.
Linda moved frequently during her lifetime but always considered Amory home. She graduated from Amory High School with the class of 1964. She then attended the University of North Texas in Denton, TX as well as Memphis State University. Linda was a hard working woman, devoted to her family and helping anyone in need. She began her career in the travel industry with Frontier Airlines and later went to work for SATO Travel where she retired from in 1997. Linda was proud of her career achievements and loved traveling in her early years.
A loving mother, grandmother and friend, Linda had a heart of God. She survived Polio as a child in the early 1950’s and was passionate about spreading awareness about Post Polio Syndrome and the effects it had on others. Linda was blessed by God with two children and five grandchildren. Love guided her decisions in life and she was a long-standing member of Amory First Methodist Church. In addition to her church members, she had a group of close high school friends whom she called “The Amory Girls”. They made many memories through the years.
Linda had a very creative mind and was a talented artist who painted many beautiful pieces. She loved arts and crafts, crocheting, and was an avid reader. Linda liked to listen to 1960’s Motown music, especially the Four Tops and The Temptations. She always had a smile, cared deeply for others and was someone others could count on.
She will be missed by her family and friends. They are so thankful to God for all the great memories and they look forward to the day they will meet again.
