Amory— Linda K. Riggan, 75, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 18, 2018, at her residence. Born in 1942, in Amory, she was a daughter of W.O. and Hazel Harris.
Linda attended Wren School. During her career, she worked with Red Kap Garment Factory as a seamstress. She also worked at Wal-Mart for 16 years before retiring, where she then started as a CNA at the nursing home. She served as a CNA for over 20 years, and was a loving and caring assistant who changed lives. Linda was of the Church of Christ faith. Every week, she printed off her devotions and faithfully studied her bible. She enjoyed listening to sermons on her computer. A woman of strong faith, Linda raised her children in church and led them to Christ’s love.
Linda was a loving mother, a humble servant of the Lord, and a devoted family member. She had a huge heart for others and was always ready to give to those in need. Linda was passionate about St. Jude Children’s Hospital and Disabled Veterans. She was always there for her family. When her children were younger, she enjoyed cheering them on in sporting activities. Linda was their biggest fan. She also loved to visit and drink coffee with Ms. Dollie Holcomb and Mr. Pat Bishop in Smithville.
In her free time, Linda enjoyed playing games on her computer, such as Bingo, or Gardens of Time on Facebook. She loved listening to Trent Harmon’s music, as well as Gospel and Country music. An avid reader, her favorite authors were Stephen King and Nora Roberts. Linda was a very special woman, and she leaves behind many cherished memories with her family. She will forever be remembered for her generous heart and loving nature.
Linda is survived by her daughter, DeeDee Mitchell (Scott), Amory; sons, Andy Burks (Ann), Smithville, Steve Burks (Amy), Flora; grandchildren, Sierra Allen, Skyler Burks, Savannah Mitchell, Seth Burks, David Gray; great-grandchildren, Sophie, Peyton, and Trey Henry Allen; and special friend, Ms. Dollie.
In addition to her parents, Linda was preceded in death by her siblings, Bo Harris, Mary Plaxico, Gene Harris; and grandson, Trey Allen.
Her funeral service will be held at 11 AM, Saturday, July 21 at E.E. Pickle Funeral Home, Amory, with Mr. Marshall Eubanks officiating.
Visitation will be from 5-7 PM, Friday, July 20, at the funeral home.
