Vernon, AL – Linda May Allen, 63, died on Friday, June 13, 2014, at DCH Regional Medical Center, Tuscaloosa. Born on August 22, 1950, in Selma, AL, she was a daughter of the late Chester and Ruby May Jackson Moates.
Linda was a graduate of Lee High School in Columbus, Class of 1968. She married Coy Allen on October 16, 1968. Before becoming a homemaker, she had worked at Glenn’s Manufacturing, Chromalot’s in Vernon, and Arvin’s in Fayette. A woman of faith, Linda attended Full Gospel Worship Center. Tenderhearted and very caring of her family, she was an animal lover who gave many strays a new home. Linda enjoyed spending time with her grand and great-grandchildren who affectionately called her “Monkey,” crocheting, and Country and Gospel music.
She is survived by her husband, Coy Allen, Vernon, AL; children, Katrina Lee (Robbie), Lagina J. Allen, and Roy Scott Allen, of Vernon, AL; grandchildren, Megan Turner (Tyler), Courtney Hagood (Andrew), Macy Lee, Coy Scott King, Colby Bradford, Joshua Allen, and Kelee Allen; great-grandchildren, Keagin Turner, McKenzie George, Lane Turner, and Tristan Hagood; several nieces and nephews, and special friends, Patsy Rogers and Nancy Patrick.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Earl Moates.
A Funeral Service will be held at 11 AM, Tuesday, June 17 at Full Gospel Worship Center, Vernon with Bro. James Godsey officiating. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Tyler Turner, Andrew Haygood, Colby Bradford, Coy King, Robbie Lee, and Henry Mack Hood.
Visitation will be from 9:30 – 10:50 AM, Tuesday at the church.
