Amory – Lillie M. Reeves, 92, passed away on Saturday, December 12, 2015, at Pioneer Community Hospital, Aberdeen. Born on January 8, 1923, in the Palmetto Community, she was a daughter of the late Thomas and Virginia Whitten Smith.
Mrs. Reeves attended Becker and Amory schools. With her parents being sharecroppers, she grew up working in the cotton fields and was not afraid of hard work. Before becoming a homemaker, she had worked as a seamstress in the area garment industry. A woman of strong faith who read her Bible daily, Mrs. Reeves was a member of Bartahatchie Baptist Church. A very loving and caring mother, she was the matriarch of her family. Deeply loved and honored by her family and extended family, she was a Proverbs 31 lady. Her grandchildren were the love of her life. Mrs. Reeves was passionate about always putting others first. A great cook, she enjoyed feeding folks. Having a green thumb, she grew beautiful flower gardens. Mrs. Reeves enjoyed quilting, sewing, and listening to Gospel music. Fond of all living animals, she loved watching hummingbirds.
Survivors include her sons, Rayburn Reeves (Yvonne), Vernon, and Alton Reeves (Jean), Aberdeen; 11 grandchildren, Craig, Jason, and Shawn Reeves; Michael Hemric; Donnie, Marc, and Gary Reeves; Lana Jean Cook; Rory L. Reeves; Sara Box Kelly; and Charlotte Rooks; 20 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great-grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Merlie and Alvin Reeves; sons, Earl, Floyd, Bobby, and Murray Reeves; and grandchildren, Kenny Reeves, Celeste Lowe, and Curtis Reeves.
Her Funeral Service will be held at 1 PM, Tuesday, December 15, 2015, at E. E. Pickle Funeral Home, Amory, with Bro. Philip Lindsey officiating. Burial will follow in Sullivan Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Donnie, Marc, Gary, Chase and Matt Reeves; and Allen Rooks. Honorary pallbearer will be Cody Cook.
Visitation will be from 11 AM until the service hour, Tuesday, at the funeral home.
