Smithville— Martha Lillie Cummings, 89, met her Lord and Savior on the evening of February 9, 2020. She was born in Itawamba County, MS on March 15, 1930 to the late Arthur Lester and Ima Reba Parham Wardlaw.

Lillie worked as a seamstress for many years at Monroe Trouser and Amory Garment. She also worked part time at many local fish and steak houses as a cook. She was a long-time member of Smithville Baptist Church and she loved attending her Sunday School class.

Lillie was known for her seamless talent with sewing machine. She enjoyed quilting and cross-stitching. She made many suits and dresses for people in her community, and she even made her daughter’s wedding dress and bridesmaids’ gowns. Back in the day she enjoyed gardening in the local truck patches. Lillie liked to tend to flowers in her garden.
Above all, Lillie loved her family with her whole heart as well as the friends she kept close to her heart. She will be dearly missed by her loved ones, but the memories she helped create will last forever.

Lillie is survived by her daughter, Glenda Pearce, of Fulton; son, Johnny Cummings, Amory; grandchildren, John Lance Cummings, Nettleton, Jason Young, (Kelly),VA; great-grandchildren, Colin and Brianna Young; sisters, Jessie Faye Moncatch, Arbor Vida, WI, Dellie “Dale” Maharrey, Okolona, MS; brother-in-law, Charlie Kennedy, GA; several nieces and nephews; and her beloved church family and friends at Smithville Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Judy Annette Cummings; son, Jimmy Dale Cummings; and six siblings.

A funeral service will be held at E.E. Pickle Funeral Home in Smithville at 1PM on Thursday, February 13, 2020, with Bro. Wes White officiating. There will be no graveside services. Burial will be in Pearce Chapel Cemetery in Smithville. Pallbearers will include Jerry Pierce, Joe Hal Morgan, Teddy Faulkner, Bo Stevens, Wade Murray, Rollin Turnage, and Gilbert Addington.

Visitation will be Thursday from 11AM until the service hour at the funeral home in Smithville.
