View her Tribute video: http://videos.lifetributes.com/211240Amory - Lillian Grisham is lovingly remembered by family and friends as a woman who had the gift of joy and who shared that gift with others throughout her long life. She peacefully passed on Friday, April 8, 2011 at Sanctuary Hospice in Tupelo, MS. She was born Lillian Mae Harder in Amory, MS in 1918, to Tola Harder and Mabel Agnes Tubb Harder. She was welcomed into that nucleus family by a brother, Austin Wilkes Harder, and a sister, Lorena Harder (Mrs. Thomas Dorsey). At a young age she exhibited her free and independent spirit and that youthful exuberance stayed with her throughout her life. She graduated from Amory High School, Class of 1937, and married William Henry “Bill” Grisham in 1937. They were life partners living in Memphis, TN, and Amory, MS, until his death in 1984. She leaves one son, William Harder Grisham, of Amory, MS, and two daughters, Julia Anne Murphy, of Fulton, MS, and Chicago, IL, and Mary Jane Westerlund, of Amory, MS, and Dallas, TX. She is also survived by four much loved grandchildren, Jeffrey Grisham of Chattanooga, TN, Dana Coggins of Pelzer, SC, Suzanne Kim of Orange Park, FL, and Jane Lirette of Fort Worth, TX, and all of their eleven great-grandchildren. She also leaves several nieces and nephews. Lillian was preceded in death by her adored grandson, Ryan Patrick Murphy.Lillian worked for more than two decades with the staff of pediatricians at Amory’s Physicians and Surgeons Clinic, adding her special cheerfulness to the workplace for her colleagues and the young patients alike. She was an active member at St. Andrew’s United Methodist Church in Amory, where she was a charter member of that congregation. She was a devoted wife and a loving Mother. She loved to travel, was an avid bridge player, and a great cook. Her back door was always open and welcoming to her many friends who enjoyed her humor and open heart. She will always be remembered for her great humor and enthusiasm for life.A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 13, at St. Andrew’s United Methodist Church in Amory with the Rev. Tim Sisk and the Rev. Glyn Wiygul officiating. Private family burial will be in the Haughton Memorial Park in Amory. Pallbearers will be Curt Tubb, Greg Coggins, Jack Lirette, Jeff Grisham and Bo Miller. Honorary pallbearers will be Tim Saltz, Charles Conner and Dr. Terry Odom.Visitation will be from 5 – 8 p.m. on Tuesday at E.E. Pickle Funeral Home in Amory.Memorials may be made to St. Andrew’s United Methodist Church, 1115 Legion Drive, Amory, MS 38821.
