Amory – Lester D. Pickle, 73, passed away on Wednesday, July 1, 2015, at Merit Health Gilmore Memorial Hospital. Born on February 4, 1942, in Monroe County, he was a son of the late Vertis and Alice Carter Pickle.
Lester was a graduate of Hatley High School, Class of 1960. On August 5, 1960, he married his high school sweetheart, Linda Parham. He worked as a supervisor in the cutting room and in the computer room drafting pants designs for Amory Garment, retiring in 2004. He was a member of Christian Chapel Church of Christ. Possessing an amazing love for his family, Lester’s grandchildren gave him the most enjoyment. Funny and quick-witted, he enjoyed playing golf, working in his yard, sitting on his deck, and watching Fox News. Lester loved grilling for his children and grandchildren and in his earlier years, enjoyed playing tennis with his girls. Passionate about anything and everything to do with the Manning family, he enjoyed following them and watching them play football.
Survivors include his wife of nearly 55 years, Linda Pickle, Amory; daughters, Robyn Holman, Blakely, GA, Jill Cox (Scott), Smithville, and Leslie Harville (Tim), Hernando; sisters, Eva Nell Hunter, Decatur, AL, and Martha Word, Wren; grandchildren, Kristopher Holman, Karli Trull (Josh), Katy Harville, Mary Addyson Harville, Elijah Cox, Dawson Harville, and Peyton Harville; and several nieces & nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Mable Pickle, and a brother, Hester Pickle.
A Funeral Service will be held at 11 AM, Saturday, July 4, 2015, at E. E. Pickle Funeral Home, Amory, with Mr. Leslie Grant and Mr. Marshall Eubanks, Jr., officiating. Burial will follow in New Hope Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Kristopher Holman, Elijah Cox, Dawson Harville, Larry Pickle, Gary Prestridge, Rick Stanford, Brad Blalock, and Vaughn Dale Howell.
Visitation will be from 5 - 8 PM, Friday at the funeral home.
