Smithville – Lenta “Lynn” Zoe Garner Morrow, 90, passed away on Saturday, April 15, 2023 at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo, MS. Born on March 25, 1933, in Henderson, TN, she was the daughter of the late Ruel Cager Garner and Ottie Edna Patterson Garner.

Having grown up in a very large family, Lynn had 13 other siblings and knew the special value of family. Lynn attended school in Chester County, TN until age 13 then finished 12th grade in Blytheville, Arkansas. At the age of 18, she moved to Memphis, TN, where she loved the city. That is where she met Thomas Wayne Morrow and they were married on April 12, 1952 and together they had two daughters, Marsha Lynn Holloway and Melisa Diane Stroud.

Lynn was a homemaker, but in 1960 she joined the Memphis, TN Police Department being one of the first women police officers. She worked in the police department until 1962. Then from 1965-1982, Lynn was a Mary Kay Consultant. In 1970, her husband Tom opened his business Jet Pump Repair, Inc. and she worked with him. Through out all, she always took care of her family first.
She always enjoyed spending time with her family. She loved to play Uno and Checkers with her grandkids.
She spent many hours sitting on her porch with Tom and all family members making up games with grandkids picking out colors of cars and waving when people honked at her.
She was a member of Smithville Baptist Church and loved her church family. Lynn taught Sunday School for many years with the youth.

She is survived by her daughter, Melisa “Missy” Stroud (L.D.), New Blaine, AR; grandchildren, Andy Holloway (Casey), Smithville, MS, Brad Thompson (Megan), Centerton, AR, Cassie Baldwin (Bill), North Little Rock, AR; great-grandchildren, Mac Kane, Franklin, TN, Noe Holloway (Brandon), Tupelo, MS, Andi Kate Holloway, Smithville, MS, Beau and Charlie Baldwin, North Little Rock, AR, Kadie and Alex Santos and Bash Fairchild, Centerton, AR; sisters, Judy Barnes (Rick), Hattiesburg, MS, Earline Burns, Steele, MO, Janice Marovelious, Ft. Worth, TX; brothers, J.W. Garner (Audrey), Arlington, TN, Bill Garner (Peggy), Mt. Olive, AL, Ruel Garner (Myra), Keller, TX; brother-in-law, Paul Morrow, Smithville, MS; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Wayne Morrow, 2019; daughter, Marsha Lynn Holloway, 1999; sisters, Linnie Mae Johnson, Bonnie Hurst, Nell Smith, Jo Ellen Biddle and Martha Shappley; brothers, Buck Garner and Ray Garner.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Wednesday, April 19, 2023, at 2:00 pm at Smithville Baptist Church in Smithville, MS with Mr. Mark Whitehead officiating. Burial will follow in New Salem Cemetery, Itawamba County, MS with pallbearers being Mac Kane, Reed Holloway, Beau Baldwin, Lane OBrian, Jeff Morrow, and Tim Morrow.

Visitation for family and friends will be held on Tuesday evening, April 18, 2023, from 5:00pm until 7:00 pm at the Smithville Baptist Church in Smithville, MS.
