Amory, Miss.—Lawrence William Stevens, 74, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, April 5, 2013 at the Gilmore Memorial Regional Medical Center in Amory. He was born on September 4, 1938 in Smithville to the late Fred and Elaine Johnson Stevens. A 1956 graduate of Smithville High School, he also served in the United States Air Force. He retired from Walker Manufacturing Company as a senior process engineer after 38 years of employment.
He was a devout Christian and faithfully served the Lord at First Baptist Church, where he was a deacon. He enjoyed repairing antique closks, woodworking, traveling in his RV, coffee breaks with his friends at McDonald’s, and most of all, spending time with his family.
A Celebration of Life Service will be 2 p.m. on Sunday, April 7, 2013 at First Baptist Church in Amory with Dr. Allen Simpson and Rev. Andy Adkison officiating. Burial will be in the Pearce Chapel Cemetery. E.E. Pickle Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Faye Frederick Stevens; two daughters, Sheila Creekmore (John) of Amory and Sharon Tubb (Chuck) of Amory; 5 grandchildren Melanie Adkison (Andy) of Birmingham, AL, Matthew Creekmore (Leigh Anne) of Nashville, TN, Mark Creekmore of Amory, Lauren Tubb of Jackson, and Kyle Tubb of Amory; two great grandchildren, Jude and Drew Adkison of Birmingham, AL; and brother-in-law, Jerry Frederick (Patsy) of Smithville.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Pallbearers will be Andy Adkison, Matthew Creekmore, Mark Creekmore, and Kyle Tubb. Honorary pallbearers will be the McDonald’s Coffee Club.

Visitation will continue until 1:45 p.m. at the funeral home.
