Hatley- Laverne Ritter Parish, 94, died Sunday, March 17, 2013 at her residence in Hatley. Born May 17, 1918 she was a daughter of the lateCharlie William and Ora Lee Carter Ritter. She married Lorse Allen Parish September 10, 1932.
Growing up and living all of her life in Hatley, she attended Phillips School House, was a member of Hatley Primitive Baptist Church and was employed at the Hatley Garment Plant and Hood Cleaners. Loving to cook, Mrs. Parish was quick to feed anyone or anything that came to her house. Mrs. Parish possessed the gift to be able to raise a beautiful garden, and enjoyed canning, watching T.V., and making her famous fruit cakes.
She is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth Tubbs (Ellis), Hatley; brother, Charles William Ritter (Carolyn), Kosciusko; grandchildren, Ann Carter (Billy Hood), Sandra Barnett (Bob Wiles), Jeffrey Tubbs (Cindy Lamb), Michael Tubbs (Cindy), and Steven Tubbs, all of Amory; great grandchildren, Jennifer Webb (Keith), Jackson, GA, Joseph Carter (Mandi), Metter, GA, Danielle Hill (Brandon), Daniel Tubbs (Brittany), Chase Tubbs, John Tubbs, and Alex Tubbs, all of Amory; great great grandchildren, Grace and Dawson Webb, Jackson, Ga, Regan and Natalie Carter, Rhett and Austen Carroll, all of Metter, GA, Emily and Kaylie Hill, Amory, Cayden Hill, Smithville, and McKarlee Tubbs, Amory; nieces, Shelley Ritter, Clarksdale, and Cathy Scholl (Brian), Huntsville; special nieces, Sue Wilson and Mattie Parish, Anguilla, MS.
In addition to her parents and husband of 54 years, she is preceded in death by her sister, Lilly Gray Myatt and brother in law, J.C. Myatt.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held Wednesday, 11 A.M., March 20 at E.E. Pickle Funeral with Elder Tim Cunningham and Elder Bobby Howell officiating. Burial will follow in Hatley Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Lee Barnett, Bobby Carter, Billy Hood, Michael Tubbs, Brandon Hill, and Alex Tubbs. Honorary pallbearers will be Gentiva Hospice Care.
Visitation will be Tuesday, March 19 from 5 P.M.- 8 P.M. at the funeral home.
