Amory – Larry Pierce, 69, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, June 30, 2016, at Alliance Healthcare Systems, Holly Springs. Born on December 28, 1946, in Itawamba County, he was the son of the late Cecil Virgil and Zana Mae Pickle Pierce.
Larry attended Smithville High School and graduated from Amory High School, Class of 1964. On May 8, 1965, he married Jerri Lowrimore. Working in maintenance and quality assurance with Kerr-McGee/Tronox since 1969, Larry retired in 2008. A hard-working, dedicated and very dependable employee, he could fix anything and often said he was “Born to work.” For seven years, he served in the Mississippi Army National Guard.
Larry was a member for First Baptist Church, Amory. One who dearly loved his family, he enjoyed spoiling his grandchildren, who affectionately called him, “Laddy.” Larry was passionate about helping others and was able to do anything. He was a member of Country Boys coffee club which often solved all the world’s problems daily. He enjoyed auctions, hunting, fishing, and metal fabrication. Appreciating music from the 70’s and 80’s rock, Larry loved the Beatles, Led Zeppelin and The Who.
Survivors include his wife, best friend and soulmate of 51 years, Jerri Pierce; daughter, Laura Kathryn Pierce Buskirk; sons, Larry Gene Pierce (Dina) and Jay Lowrimore Pierce (Autum N.), all of Amory; grandchildren, Jaynee Margaret Pierce, Shelby Pierce, Katy Buskirk, Cameron Pierce, Emily Pierce, Sarrah Pierce, and Ava Pierce; soon to be great-granddaughter, Evans Pierce; sisters, Joyce P. Pannell, Columbus, Loyce P. Clark, Nettleton, and Doris P. Archer, Wren; several nieces and nephews.
His Graveside Service will be held at 2:30 PM, Saturday, July 2, 2016, in Masonic Cemetery with Dr. Allen Simpson officiating. Pallbearers will be David Brown, James Maxcy, Bobby Cantrell, Steve Sullivan, Chris Law and Ivan Taylor. Honorary pallbearer will be David Dallas, II.
Visitation will be from 1 – 2:20 PM, Saturday, at E. E. Pickle Funeral Home.
