Larry Mitchell

Amory- Larry Ray Mitchell, 60, died Monday, June 10, 2013 at North Mississippi Medical Center. Born July 30, 1952, he was a son of Faye Pounders Mixon and the late Joice Mitchell. He was married to Cathy Mitchell.

A lifelong resident of Monroe County, Larry attended Becker School and was a Graduate of Amory High School. He was of the Baptist faith and had worked for C & F Construction, later retiring from Monroe County Road Maintenance. Although strong willed at times, Larry had a big heart, and would help anyone in need. He enjoyed Nascar, being outdoors riding 4 wheelers, hunting, and gardening.

He is survived by his wife, Cathy Mitchell; mother and step father, Faye and James Mixon, Nettleton; daughters, Christi Andres (Darion), Vancouver, WA, Hollie Mitchell, Atlanta, GA; step daughters, Kimberly Fields (Jerry) Sulphur Springs, TX, Dana Ryan, Tupelo; step sister, Jackie Gail Brown (Walter), San Antonio, TX; step brothers, Col. James Howard Mixon (Sue), Fort Bragg, NC, Henry Mixon (Doris), Columbus, Jeff Mixon (Sonya), Austin, TX; grandchildren, Chris, Noah, Shelbi, and Trevor Andres, Weston and Landon Fields, Connor, Drew, and Trey Holiman, and Ainsley Ryan; and special friend L.B. Wright.

In addition to his father, Joice Mitchell, he is preceded in death by his son, Brad Mitchell and step son, Barry Deaton.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11 AM, Thursday, June 13, 2013 at E.E. Pickle Funeral Home with Bro. Danny Burks and Bro. Shane Crawford officiating. Burial will follow in Northington Heard Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Gary McAfee, Jabbo Holloway, David Randolph, Billy Parker, Rico Parker, and Rick Moreland. Honorary pallbearers will be the members of Standifer Creek Hunting Club and the Hospice Unit of NMMC.

Visitation will be from 5 PM- 8 PM on Wednesday, June 12 at the funeral home.
