Amory – SGT Kyle Clayton Thomas, USARNG, 24, passed away on Monday, May 29, 2017, while deployed at the National Training Center in Fort Irvin, California. Born on December 10, 1992, in Amory, he was a son of Eddie Thomas and Meriem Jo Ann Wallace Boussouar.
Kyle was a graduate of Amory High School, Class of 2011. Excelling in soccer, he was offered a soccer scholarship at ICC. His patriotism led him to turn down the scholarship and join the MS National Guard. He proudly served his Country as a “Tanker”. His passion for being a protector was evident to all that knew him. He had the phrase “For Those I Love I will Sacrifice” on his arm. Kyle also worked as an assembler at Nautic Star Boat manufacturing plant in Amory, MS. Accepting Christ as his Savior, Kyle was a Christian who attended Cornerstone Church in Amory.
A cut-up who was loveable, funny, outgoing and the life of the party, Kyle never met a stranger and almost always had a smile on his face. One who was compassionate and loved life, Kyle had a close-knit family. He loved spending time with his family and he cherished the relationships he had with them. When his daughter, Devina Jayde Smith, was born, an incredible new love and bond was formed. He was so proud of his daughter.
Known as a daredevil, Kyle would try anything. He enjoyed fishing with his dad, skate boarding, watching movies on Netflix, singing karaoke, dancing and playing games on X-Box. His life was blessed with many close friends and family who loved him and will miss him dearly. His legacy will live on and his sacrifice for our country will never be forgotten.
He is survived by a daughter, Devina Smith, Amory; parents, Eddie Thomas (Sheryl), Amory; Jo Ann Boussouar (Hachemi), Milton, FL; sisters, Joni Edmonson (David), Clayton, NC; Tiffany Jones, Millport, AL; Chrystal Parker (Marty), Amory; Jennifer Sloan (Robin), Amory; grandparents, Jackie Ann Wallace, Milton, FL; Marvelle Jean Tartt, Amory; aunts, Janette West (Dan), Bartahatchie, Karen Wallace, FL; uncles, Billy and Bobby Wallace, FL; cousins, Danette Starks (William) and Allison Fair (Chris); nieces and nephews, Annalee Thomas; Alexis Jones; Olivia and Riley Edmonson; Dustin Parker (Brooke); Jake Sloan (Chastity); Lauren Sloan; special friends, Chandler Riggs, Bradley Riggs, Ryan Hill, Jessica Smith (mother of Devina), Hannah Zaragosa, Courtlyn McCollum; Alpha Company 2/198th; Members of the National Guard 155th Brigade; and friends from Nautic Star.
Kyle was preceded in death by his grandparents, Carl and Mary Thomas; grandfathers, Perry Wallace, Clarence Tartt; brother-in-law, Antonio Jones.
The Funeral Service for SGT Kyle C. Thomas, USARNG, will be held at 2 PM, Friday, June 9 at First Baptist Church, Amory, with Pastor Greg Huguley officiating and eulogist, Justin Clark. His Graveside Service with Military Honors will follow in Haughton Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be members of the Mississippi National Guard Honor Team. Honorary pallbearers will be the Amory High School Class of 2011; MS Army National Guard; Bradley and Chandler Riggs; Ryan Hill; Pallas Fair; Dustin Parker; Jake Sloan.
Visitation will be from 5 – 8 PM, Thursday, and 12:25 – 1:25 PM, Friday, at First Baptist Church, Amory.
