Kimberly Underwood Thompson

Kimberly Underwood Thompson, 54, became totally healed and began her new life in Heaven on Tuesday, April 9, 2024. She was born on September 18, 1969, in Chicago, Illinois, to Daniel Underwood and Mary Ann Benson Underwood.

A sweet and loving friend, daughter, wife and sister, Kim left behind so many who will forever miss her kind words and gentle smiles. She committed her life to Christ at a young age and lived a life full of love for others every day.

Kimberly graduated from Itawamba Agricultural High School and later graduated from Itawamba Junior College where she obtained an associate degree in technology. After graduation, she devoted 30 years of talent and dedication to her employer, Wax Seed Company. She was proud to work for a company that was such a significant part of the history of the community.

She married the love of her life and best friend, Gary Thompson, on October 5, 1996, and they shared twenty-seven wonderful years together. During that time, Kim and Gary enjoyed motorcycle rides for charity, going to concerts, traveling to Gatlinburg and spoiling their animals. Kim had a love for outdoors where she enjoyed potting plants and reading. In her spare time, she watched home & garden and cooking shows, movies, and listening to 70’s rock or blues music. Every year for her birthday, Kim and Gary would travel to Clarksdale, MS to celebrate and listen to blues music.

Besides her husband, Kim was close to her sisters, Sherry and Tina and they often shared “sister days” where they ate out, shopped, saw a good movie, or enjoyed special experiences at local events. In addition to her sisters, she had a close relationship to her cousins, especially Ann Marie and Clayton. Family meant so much to Kim and there were many great memories made through the years with them. She was blessed during her lifetime with many friends like Eric Williams, Robert “Paco” Gray, Brenda Cox and all her Bunco club members. They shared both happy and tough times together and these relationships stood the test of time.

A young woman who was giving, thoughtful, and always looking out for others, Kim was the kindest soul, and her presence will be dearly missed by her family and friends. She left us too early, yet those who knew her have peace knowing that she is whole and dwelling in the presence of the Lord. The one thing that she never failed to say was “I love you!”.

She is survived by her husband, Gary Thompson, Amory; parents, Daniel Underwood, Amory and Mary Ann Benson Underwood, Amory; sisters, Tina Underwood Coggins (Nickey), Tupelo, and Sharon Underwood Walker, Amory; nieces and nephews, Megan Trentham (Josh), Ashley Hurley (Josh), Jake Moore (Malorie), Ryan Moore (Tatum), Chris Walker (Jenna), Mandy Moore (Ben), Sean Thompson (Jody), Scott Cox (Jill), Katie Rost, and Mary Ann Miller (Harry).

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Reba Lois Moore Underwood and Dayton Underwood; Mary Alice Coats Benson and L.D. Benson.
