Hatley – Kenneth “Kenny” Wayne Harris, 63, passed away on Friday, March 4, 2016, at his residence. Born on July 8, 1952, in Amory, he was a son of the late Condie Mac and Mildred Lee Hamilton Harris.
Kenny graduated from Hatley High School in 1970, and then he furthered his education at IJC from 1970-1972. He received his Bachelor of Science in Education from MS State University in 1974. Kenny was a one-of-a-kind person who never met a stranger. In his lifetime, he was blessed with three daughters. His children and grandchildren gave him the most enjoyment in life. He was an active member of First United Methodist Church and served as an Usher. He loved to visit with people, being outdoors, and listening to Country Music, especially Vince Gill, Alabama, and Garth Brooks. Kenny was a perfectionist who enjoyed working in the garden, especially with tomatoes. He also liked pampering his yard and tending to his Florida Palms. He was a character who was determined to grow the Florida palms in Mississippi
He was a provider who was a go-getter. He initially served as a finance manager for different companies. Going into the insurance industry, Kenny worked with various companies and was recognized with numerous awards and trips for being top salesman. He enjoyed taking these trips with his good friend, Robert Pitts. As an entrepreneur later in life, he had owned and operated Senior Health Associates for many years.
Survivors include his daughters, April Pickle (Mike), Misty Harris (John), and Connie Harris of Amory; sister, Bobbie Barnett, Amory; grandchildren, Kaylen and Jacob Pickle; Kayleigh, John Kyle, and Kentleigh Harris; Hayden Harris; Will Murff; and Braxton Harris; many cousins; nephews, Tim Barnett, Lee Barnett (Cathy); special friend and coworker of 20 years, Sandy Smith; and his beloved feline companion, Sassy.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandparents, Matt & Susie Odom Harris, Henry Curtis & Zudie Rebecca Hamilton; baby sister, Janette Harris; and special Aunt, Dot Hannon.
His Funeral Service will be held at 11 AM, Tuesday, March 8 at E. E. Pickle Funeral Home, Amory with Rev. Don McCain and Rev. Jimmy Criddle officiating. Burial will follow in Masonic Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Joe Benton, Stan White, Barry Smith, Tim Barnett, Lee Barnett, Robert Pitts, Steve Butler, Matt Butler, and Mike Tubb. Honorary pallbearers will be the Hatley Class of 1970, all clients with Senior Health Associates, Ray Smith, and C. W. Smith.
Visitation will be from 5 - 8 PM, Monday at the funeral home.
