Kenneth Wardlaw

Amory, Miss.—Kenneth Wayne Wardlaw, 58, died on Friday, February 7, 2014 at the UAB Hospital in Birmingham. Born June 15, 1955 in Kenosha, WI, he was the son of Gilbert and Vedie Kendrick Wardlaw.

A 1975 graduate of Smithville High School, he also attended Itawamba Junior College. He married Sheila Taylor. A devoted husband, he cherished his time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren. An accomplished musician, he enjoyed playing the guitar and collecting guitars. He enjoyed playing and listening to classic rock music and for over 20 years worked for Stanford Communication’s WAFM FM-95 Radio where he also was co-host of the morning radio program, “Eddard and Kennard.” A man of faith, he was a member of the First Assembly of God in Amory.

A celebration of life service will be 2 p.m. on Sunday, February 9, 2014 at the E.E. Pickle Funeral Home Chapel in Amory with Bro. Jerry Oakes officiating. Burial will be in the Young Memorial Gardens in Smithville.

Survivors include his wife, Sheila Wardlaw of Amory; one daughter, Maegan Wardlaw of Booneville; two sons, Nicholas Wardlaw (Carolyn) of Decatur, AL and Matthew Newman (Jada) of Aberdeen; one sister, Judy Herring of Smithville; two grandchildren, Lucy Blythe Wardlaw and Taylor Grace Newman; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Pallbearers will be Christopher Herring, Rodney Gillentine, Justin Leveck, Cody Gillentine, Ryan Gillentine, and Petey Bennett. Honorary pallbearers will be Art Gentry, Mike Jones, Andy Farrar, Ed Stanford, and John Carrithers.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time on Sunday at the funeral home.
