Smithville – Ken “Peat” Edge, 33, died on Saturday, May 17, 2014, in Smithville. Born on July 29, 1980, in Amory, he was a son of Donald and Dessie Maxey Edge.
Ken was a graduate of Smithville High School, Class of 1998. Good with his hands and mechanically inclined, he worked as a screen printer with his family as well as in the furniture and manufacturing industries. Ken attended Cross Bound Church and was a member of Union Chapel Baptist Church, Beaverton, AL. Tenderhearted, loyal, smart, silly, and fun-loving, he had the gift of making people laugh and was passionate about caring for and reaching out to others. Ken loved children, especially playing with his nieces and nephews; was an avid college football fan, proudly cheering for the Auburn Tigers; and enjoyed a variety of music.
He is survived by his parents, Donald and Dessie Maxey Edge, Smithville; sister, Kelli E. Steadman (Matthew), Smithville; brother, Kevin Edge (Angie), Columbus; nieces and nephews, Jordan, Allie, Annslie, Kaleb, and Khloe Steadman; Knollie “KK, ” Katch, and King Edge; great-nephew, Braden Steadman; and special aunt, Linda Maxey King; special cousin, Alyssa Jo Towery; and a special sister, Stacey Hinton.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Kerri Diane Edge; grandparents, Clarence Ruble and Vera Lee Goodwin Maxey; Orlando “Pete” Edge; and Ethel Short Elam.
A Funeral Service will be held at 4 PM, Tuesday, May 20 at E. E. Pickle Funeral Home, Amory with Bro. Kevin Crook officiating. Burial will follow in Young Memorial Garden. Pallbearers will be Juice Madrid, Patrick Powell, Shane Beck, Jackie Long, Justin Coleman, Kevin Hathcock, and Jared Smith.
Visitation will be from 5 – 8PM, Monday at the funeral home.
