Amory - Kaye Pace Johnson, 73, passed away on Sunday, April 9, 2017, at NMMC. She was born on December 14, 1943, in Amory, to William Clarence “Jack” and Margaret Velda Dyer Pace.
Kaye graduated from Amory High School in 1961. She furthered her education at The W and then received her Masters at MSU. Kaye served the public as a teacher for over 34 years. She married the love of her life, Larry Johnson on December 17, 1966, and together they raised their two daughters.
She was a caring, loving, giving and family oriented woman. She always put others first while serving the Lord. She was a long time member of First Baptist Church who volunteered in Vacation Bible School and chaperoned many youth trips. She enjoyed volunteering at the Food Pantry with Larry. She loved working with people and serving in the Aurora Club. In her free time, Kaye enjoyed walking, reading, puzzles, traveling, and spending time with family.
Kaye is survived by her husband of over 50 years, Larry Johnson; daughters, Leslie Johnson Fleming (Jason), Lakeland, TN, and Mylnn Johnson Phelan (Michael), Memphis, TN; granddaughter, Avery Lauren Fleming; brother, William “Buddy” Pace (Sue), Hattiesburg; nieces, Dena, Heather, and Carmon; nephews, Darrell and Jim; and numerous cousins and close friends.
Funeral Services will be held at 2PM, Tuesday, April 11, 2017, at EE Pickle Funeral Home, with Brother Allen Simpson and Brother Jimmy McFatter officiating. Burial will follow in Masonic Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Evan Adams, John Evans, Darrell Pace, Allen Glenn, and Andy Cantrell. Honorary pallbearers will be the members of The Coffee Club and their spouses.
