Aberdeen – Katherine “Kathy” Kiker Shields, 46, died on Friday, July 30, at her residence following an extended illness. Born on March 14, 1964, in Sheffield, AL, she was a daughter of the late Loring Haynes & Dorothy Braden Kiker. A very generous, compassionate and loving lady, Kathy never met a stranger. Her ministry was helping those who were in need, especially the elderly. Being a people person, she enjoyed working at Movie Gallery in Aberdeen. Kathy had a love for music, was a huge movie buff and enjoyed horseback riding. Kathy is survived by her husband of 24 years, Airrey David Shields; daughters, Shannon Shields (Brian M.) Ballard and Sarah Jessica-Anne Shields; mother- in-law and father-in-law, Faye and A. J. Shields, all of Aberdeen; sisters, Terry Campbell, Muscle Shoals, AL, and Linda Alford and Pat Kiker, both of Adairsville, GA; grandchild, Keagan Airrey Rogers; and nieces & nephews. A Celebration of Life service for Kathy Kiker Shields will be held at 2 PM, Sunday in River Bend Baptist Church, Aberdeen, with Dr. Roy McHenry officiating. Burial will follow in New Prospect Cemetery. She will lie-in-state at the church from 12:30 PM until the service hour. Pallbearers will be Tim Corbell, Denton Harris, Rufus Harris, Terry Long, Luther Shields, and Phillip Shields. Honorary pallbearers will be Catlin and Christopher Alford, Brian Ballard, Luke Bishop, Brian Campbell, Walton Harris, Airrey Williams, Patrick Williams and Justin Woolbright.
