Julia Rae Brown Parham

Amory – Julia Parham, 87, passed away on Tuesday, January 7, 2025, at the Traceway Manor in Tupelo, Mississippi and she began her new life in Heaven. She was born January 19, 1937, in Becker, Mississippi to the late Merlie Brown and Ollie Bell Stanford Parham.

Julia grew up in Monroe County, attended school in Amory and married the love of her life, Herbert Lee Parham in 1952. They were blessed by God with seventy-two years of marriage, three children, seven grandchildren, and five great grandchildren. In addition to being a homemaker, she worked as a cook in the Hatley high School cafeteria for many years and she fed many of the students through the years. Julia was a social butterfly who never met a stranger. Always up for anything, she was happy go lucky and met others with a smile.

She loved reading, spending time with her family and was passionate about loving the Lord. Julia was an excellent cook and oftentimes provided meals and a great gathering place for her family. When she wasn’t spending time with her husband, who was her best friend, she would enjoy time with her sisters-in-law, Martha Brown and Sherryel Cooper. Julia was thankful to have such great relationships with Herbert’s family members.

A woman that loved the Lord, Julia was a lifelong member of New Hope Church of Christ in the Parham Community. After moving to Tupelo, she enjoyed attending the West Main Church of Christ where she was a member of the Happy Heart ladies who fellowshipped and served the Lord together. God was her first priority in life, and she loved the Lord and her family immensely.

The legacy Julia leaves with her family will live on in the hearts and minds of her family and friends. She touched and served many lives through the years and there is no doubt she is resting in peace with her Savior.

She is survived by her husband, Herbert Lee Parham, Hatley; daughters, Vicki Lee Parham Barksdale (Donald), Caledonia, Angela Parham Hall (Jeff), New Albany; son, Greg Parham (Karla), Mooreville; grandchildren, Nicholas Miller, Austin Hall, Brady Hall, Cooper Hall, Madison, Maxwell and Molly Parham; five great-grandchildren; sister, Janet Pavalock (Mike), Cypress, TX; brothers, Jimmy Brown (Martha), Hatley, David Brown, Houston, TX; and a host of nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a grandchild, Noah Barksdale.
