Aberdeen— Julia Thelma Johnston Jenkins, 64, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family on Tuesday, June 23, 2020 at her residence in Aberdeen. Born on June 22, 1956, she was a daughter of William Asa Johnston and Thelma Ryles Phelps.
Julia was born in Andalusia, Alabama. She was a faithful member of Victory Baptist Church in Nettleton. Julia was sarcastic, comical, and full of life. She was a social butterfly and made friends with everyone she met. She loved spending time with her friends and family and her dog. She was previously a manager of Bill’s Dollar Store in Nettleton.
Julia loved taking care of her family and keeping her gardens. She was full of life and full of love. She will be dearly missed by her loved ones.
Julia is survived by her daughter, Jennifer Dawn Bennett, of Aberdeen; brothers, Eddie Johnston, Ashley Johnston, both of Andalusia, AL; grandchildren, Desiree Dawn Bennett, Aberdeen, James Allen Bennett, Amory, Laken York, Amory; great-grandson, Bobby Jayce Allen Bennett; and nieces and nephews, Victoria Johnston, Monica Falon, Billy Johnston, Alex Johnston, Exa Skipper, Charlotte Smith, David Johnston; and special friends, Tonia Burlison, Terry Winter, and Robbie Strawbridge.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby Jenkins; son, Glenn Allen Garrett; and brother, Lonzie Carson Phelps.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 3PM on Friday, June 26, 2020 at E.E. Pickle Funeral Home in Amory, with Bro. Robert Earl Fowlkes officiating. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Friday from 1PM until the service hour.
