Judy Carol Jones

Judy C. Jones

Smithville, MS – Judy Carol Williamson Jones, 73, left this earth to go to her heavenly home on Tuesday, December 11, 2018. Born on October 14, 1945, in Merigold, MS, she was a daughter of Ollice and Audrey Williamson.

Judy grew up in a large family and she graduated from Drew High School with the class of 1963. Striving for the best, she furthered her education and graduated from Moorehead College. She married Rayford Jones, Jr. on October 21, 1974 and they were blessed by God with a large wonderful family. Judy loved her family and friends dearly. She was a faithful member of St. Andrews United Methodist Church and she loved her ladies’ Sunday School Class. She had the love of Christ in her heart and it was apparent to all who met her. She worked for many years as the Secretary for Craigmont High School.

A woman with a giving heart, Judy was multi-faceted in her talents and she was involved in everything community. She loved the Lord and she put her faith to work often while she served others. She believed in helping the less fortunate and she loved all people, regardless of their background or stature. A dependable and hardworking volunteer, Judy loved working at the Amory Food Pantry, where she devoted her time for 17 years. Not ever looking for anything in return, Judy would often do things for various people in the community who were in need.

Judy was passionate about Smithville and its’ citizens. She helped organize and participate in the Smithville Farmacy Indoor Market. She loved selling the fruits of her labor from the garden. She was also on the Smithville Event Committee where she helped plan various community events. Her family would say that she was so blessed with close friends that there were too many to mention. All her friends meant the world to her and she really enjoyed playing Bunco two times a month as well as occasionally subbing in some of the night Bunco groups. Quick-witted, Judy could always make you smile and her gift was her servant spirit which was contagious to those around her.

She was an active member of the Amory Community Garden and she loved sharing the gardening passion she had with her neighbors and fellow community members. She also liked helping with Beauty Pageants. In her free time, she enjoyed good music, especially Trent Harmon, Gospel, the Oldies and Goodies. She could make beautiful stepping stones and she loved crocheting and cross stitching.

There wasn’t much Judy couldn’t do and her family was blessed because of all the great memories she gave them over the years. She was fighter and yet she was ready to meet the Lord should He call her home. Her family has comfort knowing that she is with her heavenly Father. The service she gave our communities will not be forgotten. The legacy she leaves behind will be cherished forever.
