Judy Swan Gosa, 60, died on Monday, August 12, 2013 at the Wellstar Cobb Hospital in Austell, GA. She was born July 31, 1953 in Amory to Mary Jo Cunningham Swan and the late Richard Swan. She lived in Amory until moving to Georgia in 1995. She married Garfield Gosa, Jr. on February 19, 1972 at First Baptist Church in Amory. She relied on her faith in the Lord to guide her daily. She was a gifted published writer and a quiet, kind person. She especially appreciated God’s gifts of nature and animals. She was a strong supporter of People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals. She was a vegetarian and valued traditional Western scientific treatment in conjunction with homeopathic and holistic assistance. She had a great thirst for knowledge and collected books. She volunteered with Sav A Life and served as a volunteer in the adult literacy program. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Amory. She loved her three pets, Dahlia, George, and Lea.
A Celebration of Life Service will be 2 p.m. on Thursday, August 15, 2013 at the E.E. Pickle Funeral Home Chapel in Amory with Dr. Allen Simpson officiating. Burial will be in the Masonic Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Johnny Frank Turman, Doug Panel, Trey Parker, Grady. Ken and Gary Swan.
Survivors include her husband of 42 years, Garfield Gosa, Jr.; her mother, Mary Jo Swan of Amory; one sister, Kathy Parker (Terry) of Amory; niece, Kristy Prescott; two nephews, Tyler Parker and Trey Parker; and two great nieces, Karmen Dallas and Delta Dallas.
She was preceded in death by her father, Richard Swan.
Visitation will be 12 p.m. until service time on Thursday at the funeral home.
