Judith "Judy" Carruth Chelmowski

Amory— Judith E. (Funderburg) (Carruth) Chelmowski, 72, left her earthly course on Monday morning, October 14, 2019. Born in Amory, Mississippi on November 18, 1946, she was a daughter of Perry and Juanita Roberts Funderburg.

Judy attended Becker schools through the eighth grade before finishing her high school education at Amory High School and graduating with the Class of 1964. She then pursued a nursing degree at Itawamba Community College at the Tupelo and Fulton campuses, however due to health issues, was not able to obtain her RN license. Judy worked diligently as an LPN for fifteen years at Gilmore Memorial Hospital in Amory. Judy was a faithful member of Meadowood Baptist Church. Her faith in Jesus Christ guided her throughout her life.

When faced with difficulty, Judy strived to follow the example of her dear mother: she believed it important to be as good a person as possible, and to love her brothers and sisters in Christ. Happiness, love, and trust were most important to her. Judy enjoyed spending time with her husband, Bill, and both of their families. In her later years, she became a self-taught artist and joined as a member of the Corinth Artist Guild. Painting brought her joy and her family always encouraged her to express her creativity.

Above all, Judy loved her family dearly. She was especially proud of raising two fine men, Andy and Daniel, and is and will always be proud of her boys, no matter how far she is on the other side of the veil. Judy was rich with friends and loved ones. She will be dearly missed by those who knew and loved her.

Judy is survived by her sons, James Andrew Carruth (Madelyn), Amory, James Daniel Carruth (Tiffany), her other children: Melinda Chelmowski, Patricia & Scott Stephenson, Barbara & Bill Chelmowski; grandchildren, Jessica, Amber, Cameron, and Noah Carruth, Brenda, TJ, Matie and Billy, Gloria and Tommy, Ashley and Andrew, Aylah, Brenna and Seth; great-granddaughters, Maddy and Piper Carruth, Joanna, Lilly, Brailiegh, Abigail, and Adelaide; sister, Donna Trantham, Amory; brother, Rev. Dale Funderburg (LeeAnn), West Point; nieces and nephews, Joshua Funderburg (Lacy), Emily Funderburg, Abigail Funderburg, Will Trantham, Zach Trantham (Caitlin); and cherished friends, Patricia and Scott Stephenson, Amanda and T.J. Spencer, Bill and Barbara Chelmowski, Ashley and Andrew Miller.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 at E.E. Pickle Funeral Home on Friday, October 18, 2019 with Bro. Lloyd Sweatt and Rev. Dale Funderburg officiating. Burial will follow at Haughton Memorial Park in Amory.
