West Point – Juanita Funderburg, 84, died on Sunday, April 29, 2012, at Dugan Memorial Home. Born on December 2, 1927, in Greenwood Springs, she was a daughter of the late Thomas M. and Sue Waycaster Roberts.
Mrs. Funderburg attended Greenwood Springs High School where she played basketball. She married Perry Funderburg on June 20, 1943. An excellent seamstress with a strong work ethic, she had worked for Glenn Manufacturing and the Cloth Basket before retiring from Red Kap. Always serving others, she was a Christian lady whose walk with Christ was the driving force of her life. Formerly a member of First Baptist Church and Meadowood Baptist Church in Amory, Mrs. Funderburg was a member of First Baptist Church, West Point. She cherished spending time with her family. Mrs. Funderburg enjoyed Bluegrass, Old Country, and Gospel music, playing Rook, and shopping.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11 AM, Wednesday, May 2 at E. E. Pickle Funeral Home with Bro. Dale Funderburg officiating. Burial will follow in Haughton Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Andy and Daniel Carruth, Will and Zach Trantham, Joshua Funderburg, and Cameron Carruth.
Visitation will be from 5 – 8 PM, Tuesday at the funeral home.
She is survived by her daughters, Judy Carruth and Donna Trantham, of Amory; son, Dale Funderburg (LeeAnn), West Point; grandchildren, Andy Carruth and Daniel Carruth (Tiffany); Will and Zach Trantham; and Joshua, Emily, and Abby Funderburg; great-grandchildren, Jessica, Amber, Cameron, and Noah Carruth; great-great-granddaughter, Mady Buchanan; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Perry Funderburg; sister, Colleen Dill; and brother, Thomas M. Roberts, Jr.
