Born on June 7, 1933, in Walker County, AL, she was a daughter of the late Henry Jackson and Mae Magnolia Miles Keeton.Joyce had resided in Amory over 50 years. She attended school at New Salem, Smithville and Amory and was proud to have been the first person in her family to receive her high school diploma. Having worked at Cramco and Wilson Manufacturing, Joyce went back to school for her LPN degree. She worked for Gilmore Memorial Hospital until retiring in 1998. Joyce was a member of Meadowood Baptist Church, the Joy Sunday school class and had taught Sunday school while she was at First Baptist Church. A sweet lady who touched many lives, Joyce was a Girl Scout leader. Her round table in the kitchen always seemed full; one never left hungry, dirty or without a hug. Joyce enjoyed cooking, dancing and caring for others. She loved friends, coffee and a good cigarette. Her legacy will live on through her children, grandchildren and all who loved her.She is survived by her son, James Michael Lantrip, Amory; daughters, Melinda Ruth Lantrip Petty, Amory and Kimberly Joyce Lantrip (Mark) Whitehead, Smithville; sister, Mae Bell (Elton) Williams, Nettleton; sisters-in-law, Sharon Keeton, Smithville and Evelyn Keeton, Wren; grandchildren, Hannah Ruth and Maggie Marie Petty and Weston and Caleb Whitehead; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert “Bobby” Rye Lantrip, whom she married in 1955; sister, Leotta Ganey; brothers, Grady, Daley, Cooledge, James “Bud” and Curtis Keeton; and daughter-in-law, Debbie Lantrip.A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2 PM, Monday at Meadowood Baptist Church with Bro. Lloyd Sweatt and Bro. Wes White officiating. Burial will follow in Masonic Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Henry and Billy Maples, Ronnie, Tommy and John Lantrip, Patrick Lipford, Jason and Jimmy Keeton and Steve Glasgow. Honorary pallbearers will be Weston and Caleb Whitehead.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to First Friends, P. O. Box 540, Amory, MS 38821-0540.Memories and condolences may be shared with the family at eepicklefuneralhome.com. Arrangements for the Lantrip family are in the care of E. E.
