Smithville – Joyce Faye Dill, 65, died on Saturday, September 11, 2010, at JMS Burn Center, Augusta, GA. Born on July 14, 1945, in Itawamba County, she was a daughter of Mary Magdalene Leech Cody and the late Carney Cody.
Joyce attended Amory High School where she was a cheerleader and played basketball. She retired from True Temper after 26 years and had previously worked at Amory Garment. Joyce was a member of Faith Outreach in Okolona. A compassionate, giving, loving and unselfish mother and grandmother, Joyce was a great role model for her family. She enjoyed dove hunting, brim fishing, deer hunting. Joyce taught her children how to hunt and fish, was a great cook and was a loyal supporter of all her family’s sports events. She enjoyed Gospel music, watching Joyce Meyer, Joel Osteen, and Paula Dean cooking. Joyce was a member of the Breast Cancer Foundation.
She is survived by her daughters, Teresa Dill-Johnson, Amory and Lisa (David) Hester, Smithville; son, Chad Dill, Fulton; mother, Mary Magdalene Cody, Amory; sister, Loyce (Sonny) Riggan, Smithville; grandchildren, Jeremy, Dillon, and Bethany Flurry; Cody Johnson; and Jon David, Jerrin, and Jayci Hester. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her grandparents, Mr. & Mrs. Chas Cody and Mr. & Mrs. Vester Leech.
A Funeral service for Joyce Dill will be held at 4 PM, Tuesday at the funeral home in Amory with Bro. Jimmy Bryan officiating. Burial will follow in Young Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Randy Hood, Darryl Bryant, Scott Flurry, Frank Boozer, Bobby Harper and Michael Leech.
Visitation will continue until the service hour on Tuesday.
