Joyce Chase Howell

Clarksdale – Joyce Chase Howell, 87, passed away on Thursday, October 1, 2020 at Traceway Manor, Tupelo, MS. Born on April 24, 1933, in Corinth, MS, she was the daughter of the late William Herbert and Martha Hardin Chase.

Joyce graduated from Clarksdale High School with the class of 1951. She married John S. “Dick” Howell and together they were blessed with two sons. Joyce was a supportive wife and wonderful mother and after raising two sons, she began a career in Real Estate.

She was a member of Oakhurst Baptist Church in Clarksdale, MS and she loved the Lord and her family. In her free time, she liked to play bridge with her friends. Joyce touched many lives and she will be dearly missed by her family and friends.

She is survived by her sons, Shelby Howell (Gloria), Amory, MS David Howell (Shirley), Mountain Home, ID; four grandchildren, Chase Howell (Mandy), John Howell, Karen Lindsey (Ralph), and Nancy Wright (Jeremy); six great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John S “Dick” Howell, and her sister, Jean Clausel.

A Private Family Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, November 21, 2020 at Oakridge Cemetery, Clarksdale, MS with Pastor David Howell officiating.
