Born on April 19, 1926, in Pontotoc, she was a daughter of the late George Washington and Lela Belle Matthews Davis.A wonderful lady with a big heart, Mrs. Warren attended Wren School. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Amory and a former member of Trace Road Baptist Church. A faithful servant, she read her Bible daily. Mrs. Warren was a seamstress, having worked at Wilson Manufacturing and for 30 years at Futorian. She was a great cook, enjoyed traveling, gardening, quilting, working in her flowers. Mrs. Warren loved to talk and listen to Gospel music.She is survived by a son, James (Sue) Warren, Red Bay, AL; sisters, Linda Butler and Mable Taylor, Troy, MS, Marie Kennedy, Pleasant Grove Community, and Mary Sue Chapman and Annie Rae Franklin, Troy, MS; brother, Felix “Peke” Davis, Woodland; grandchildren, Cindy Butts and Stacy Hamer, Birmingham, John Warren, Red Bay, Michael Warren, Durham, NC and Holly Kelly, Dorsey; great-grandchildren, Lauren Goodwin, Allen Butts, Joshua Butts, Bradley Whitworth, Brooke Whitworth, Blake Whitworth, Krystal Hamer, Michael Hamer, Addie Warren and Michael Warren; two great-great granddaughters, Ally Goodwin and Maddie Butts; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John L. Warren; daughter, Peggy Warren Basden; son, Billy Ray Warren; brothers, George Washington “Dub” Davis, Jr., and Hoyle Davis; great-granddaughter, Kaitlyn Warren; and sister-in-law, Carol Davis.A Celebration of Life service will be held at 2 PM, Tuesday, April 5, 2011, at E. E. Pickle Funeral Home, Amory with Bro. Bill Payne and Bro. Glyn Hughes officiating. Burial will follow in Liberty Cemetery. Pallbearers will be John and Michael Warren, Sammy and Jackie Hall, Donald Warren, Bobby Franklin, Brian Butts and Brian Kelly.Visitation will continue until the service hour on Tuesday.Memories and condolences may be shared with the family at eepicklefuneralhome.com.
