Josephine Edwards Beasley

Wren – Mary Josephine “Josie” Beasley, 85, passed away on Wednesday, March 25, 2015, at her son’s residence. Born on August 31, 1929, in the Palmetto Community, she was a daughter of the late Johnnie Buck and Cleo Crouch Edwards.

She married Clarence Beasley on January 25, 1947. Working as a serger for Glenn Manufacturing until 1976, Mrs. Beasley began operating an antique and yard sale business from her home. A Christian lady, she joined First Baptist Church, Amory on August 26, 1960, and served as a nursery worker, was active in Triple L, attended the covered-dish meals, and traveled with the Seniors on trips. Guided by her faith, Mrs. Beasley’s life was surrounded by family and friends, and she was always looking out for their best interests. Having grandchildren later in life, she cherished every minute with them and enjoyed spoiling them. A very caring, determined, and loving mother who was the heart of her family, she was the best “Momma” and had a strong work ethic that was instilled by her parents. She enjoyed sewing, canning, gardening, cooking, making sweets, altering her sons’ clothes, buying clothes for her grandchildren, and listening to Gospel and Country music.

Survivors include her sons, Mike Beasley (Anne) and Ted Beasley (Cindy) of Wren; sisters, Johnnie Faye Reese, Shannon and Judy Rushing, Millport, AL; brothers, Jerry Edwards, Becker and Jimmy Edwards, Hatley; 5 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; several nieces & nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Ludie and Joann Payne, and brothers, Herman, Hollis, and Shorty Edwards.

A Funeral Service will be held at 11 AM, Friday, March 27 at E. E. Pickle Funeral Home, Amory with Dr. Allen Simpson officiating. Burial will follow in Wren Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Travis and Jacob Beasley; Jason and Greg Edwards; Don Hights; and Bernie Payne. Honorary pallbearers will be Ames Brooks and all her nephews.

Visitation will be from 5 - 8 PM, Thursday and from 10 AM until the service hour, Friday at the funeral home.
