Jone Basham Webster Cornelius, 76, passed away on Monday, June 27, 2022 at the North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. Born in Amory on September 17, 1945, she was the only child born to the late Horace and Myrel Basham. She was a graduate of Amory High School, class of 1963 and began work for various companies including Pullman Couch, bookkeeper for Sam Steven, a customer service re for Daybrite Lighting, was in sales with the Tupelo Furniture Market, and a customer service rep for Union National Insurance. At one time, she owned her own company, Answer Phone of Tupelo.
To describe Jone, one would have to say she was a firecracker and loved to be a jokester. She was always dressed to the 9’s and there was never a hair out of place in her perfect hair style. The room would light up with her beautiful smile. She was a member of the Central Grove Baptist church. When possible, she would donate to the American Heart Association in memory of her father. Raising two wonderful children by herself was her greatest accomplishment. She had an endless love for her family.
Some of her favorite things to do were to play Bunko with her many friends and many did not know that she loved to dance. In the fall, she loved to watch her Ole Miss Rebels play football. When she could, she would hop in the car and travel to Oxford to see them play. Win or lose, she was always a Rebel at heart.
Her family will miss her dearly and take comfort that she peacefully took her final journey to heaven to be with her loved ones there.
She is survived by her children: Kim Thompson (Bo Edwards), Amory and Mel Webster (April) of Crestview, Fl; grandchildren: Meghan Bradley (Steven), David Thompson and extra grandchildren Michael Lancaster, Hunter Lancaster, Michayla Lancaster, Scott Lancaster and Keller Lancaster; Great-grandchildren: Kyler & Kyleigh Bradley. She is also survived by her aunts, Joyce King, Illa Rea Smith, Gay Hall and Sarah Simmons. Among all of her friends, Rick and Peggy Carmack and Helen Stubbs were her closest friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her grandparents, Roy & Maggie Cobb and the father of her children Mel “Pee-wee” Webster.
