Smithville - Johnnie Sue Sullivan, 96, passed away on Tuesday, June 2, 2015, at NMMC, Tupelo. Born on December 22, 1918, in Monroe County, she was a daughter of the late John P. Roberts and Prudia Brasfield Roberts Gregory.
She was a graduate of Smithville High School, Class of 1936. On October 9, 1937, she married Trannie Lee Sullivan. Mrs. Sullivan and her husband owned and operated Sullivan Store. A lifelong member of Pearce Chapel Free Will Baptist Church, she was a Sunday school teacher for many years, Past-President of the Women’s Auxiliary, and was a choir member and trio member. Mrs. Sullivan’s life was guided by her faith and trust in the Lord. She was passionate about singing, cooking special meals, and helping others. Mrs. Sullivan enjoyed Gospel and 50’s music; working in her rose garden; fishing for bream; cooking and baking, especially making homemade rolls and desserts; and her painting class at Avon Lea.
Survivors include her daughter, Paula Dabbs (Mickey), Trussville, AL; son, John P. “Phil” Sullivan (Linda), Tupelo; grandchildren, Meredith Rawl (Jon), Oxford, Jason Dabbs (Angie), Morristown, TN, and David Sullivan, Oklahoma City, OK; great-grandchildren, Riley Dabbs, Lilly Dabbs, and Nolton Rawl; nieces & nephews, Linda Brewer (Larry), Forrest Park, GA, Dale Tollett (Gene), Des-Arc, AR, Cathy Strickland (Gary), Waycross, GA, June Kent (Edward), Valdosta, GA, and John Goddard (Joyce) Orange, TX.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Lucille Goddard and Lillian Burrow.
Her Funeral Service will be held at 11 AM, Thursday, June 4, 2015, at E. E. Pickle Funeral Home, Amory, with Bro. Van Dale Hudson and Bro. Gene Tollett officiating. Burial will follow in Haughton Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Jason Dabbs, David Sullivan, Larry Brewer, Jon Rawl, Gary Stickland, Greg Kent, and Richard Hayes. Honorary pallbearers will be Riley Dabbs, Nolton Rawl, and the Staff at Avon Lea.
Visitation will be from 9 AM until the service hour on Thursday at the funeral home.
