John Phillips, a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, passed away peacefully at his residence on January 2, 2025, reaching the age of 64. Born on January 2, 1961, in Amory, John was known for his unwavering work ethic and his deep commitment to helping others. After a long distance relationship, he married his wife, Melinda. They spent forty-two wonderful years together.
Throughout his career, John dedicated over 20 years of service at Home Depot, a place he cherished not only for its community but also for the friendships he formed and the opportunities it provided to assist customers. His passion for work was evident, and he embodied the spirit of a hard worker who consistently strived to make a difference in the lives of those around him.
John's personality was marked by kindness and a generous spirit. He found joy in simple pleasures, often spending his free time fishing, reading his beloved Bible, or riding his cherished Harley Davidson. He also had a profound love for dogs, viewing them as not only pets but as cherished family members.
Family held the utmost importance in John's life. He is survived by his loving wife, Melinda Phillips, and his children: Leslie Lashley (Jonathan), Tony Phillips, Steven Phillips (Amanda), and Amy Kanehl (Logan). He was a proud grandfather to James and Chloe Lashley, Emma, Riley, and Zachary Phillips, and Kallie Kanehl, whose laughter and joy brought him immense happiness. John is also survived by his brother, Russell Phillips, and sisters, Virginia Sawyer and Kathy Hiangphothichack.
In addition to his immediate family, John will be remembered fondly by his late parents, Leon Phillips and Marie Phillips, as well as his brother, William Phillips, who have all passed before him.
John's legacy is rooted in his relationship with God, his family, and his beloved fur babies. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him, and his memory will forever remain in the hearts of those who loved him most.
