Smithville—John William Jackson, Sr., 70, passed away on Wednesday, February 27, 2019, at Sanctuary Hospice House in Tupelo. John was born June 8, 1948, in Aberdeen, MS.
John attended Becker School and was a valued employee in both the furniture and garment industries. He was of the Methodist faith. His family and friends brought meaning to his life. In his spare time he enjoyed Country and Gospel music, gardening, attending to livestock and fishing.
John is survived by his daughter, Christy Lynn Corley of Waco, TX; sons, John William Jackson, Jr. (Dee Dee) of Amory and Nicholas Lloyd Jackson of Smithville; sisters, Margaret Harris (Roger) of Becker, and Ruth Eric of West Point; brother, Claude Jackson (Nancy) of Smithville; grandchildren, Erica, Kyle, and Breanna; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Hollis Jasper Jackson and Icey Bell Best Jackson; brothers, Ray Jackson and Frank Jackson; sisters, Sally Best, Bessie Armstrong, and Jean Cagle.
A funeral service will be held for John at 2:00 PM, Saturday, March 2, 2019, at E. E. Pickle Funeral Home, with Bro. Robert Earl Fowlkes and Rev. Wesley Pepper officiating. Burial will follow at Haughton Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be friends and family.
Visitation will be Friday, March 1, 2019, from 5 until 8 PM. at the funeral home.
