1st Seargent John Edward Bowers
Caledonia – John Edward Bowers, 68, passed away on Friday, April 22, 2016, at Baptist Golden Triangle in Columbus. Born on July 6,1947, in Bartlesville, Oklahoma he was the son of Optic and Mildred Marler Bowers.
A caring and selfless man, he had a generous spirit and was considered by all to be a kind hearted man. He loved to fish and enjoyed watching sports with his grandsons as well as watching his granddaughter put on fashion shows. He was an instructor at the Columbus Air Force Base. He continued his love of teaching by showing Airman and Pilots how to make their own furniture in the woodshop.
John served with the 3rd of the fourteenth field Artillary in Germany. While in the Army, John enjoyed working with electrical engineering and after leaving the army he received his degree in Electrical Engineering. He also worked at B & W for 12 years as a supervisor in West Point. He was a Christian who lived his life through his faith.
Survivors include his wife and long time friend, Christy Bowers, Caledonia; sons, Brad MacLaren (Christie), Bartahatchie; grandchildren Camryn and Noah MacLaren.
