Carolina Community—Joel Ray Smith, 57, died on Saturday, March 22, 2014 at the North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. Born April 14, 1956, he was a son of Hurbert W. and Donna Faye Hood Smith.
A graduate of Itawamba Agricultural High School, he worked for Peoplelounger’s before becoming disabled. A man of faith, he was a member of the Carolina Missionary Baptist Church and he enjoyed hunting, fishing, arrowhead hunting, canning vegetables, making jelly and spending time with family and friends.
Funeral Services will be 2 p.m. on Monday, March 24, 2014 at the E.E. Pickle Funeral Home Chapel in Amory with Bro. Joey Goodwin and Bro. Ricky Jones officiating. Burial will be in the Wiygul Cemetery.
Survivors include his wife, Vicki Morgan Smith of Carolina; his mother Donna Faye Smith of Carolina; two sons, Christopher Scott Smith and Jeb Stuart Smith both of Carolina; two sisters, Tina Standifer of Carolina and Tracy Harbor of Mantachie; nieces and nephews, Bryson Winters, Tailyn Standifer, Kortney Ewing, Zeb Ozbirn, Justin Winters, Dicy Jackson, and Mackenzie Harbor.
He was preceded in death by his father, Hurbert W. Smith.
Pallbearers will be Dale Mills, Paul Ozbirn, David Powell, Tommy Blake, Michael Ewing, and Michael Winters.
Visitation will continue until service time on Monday at the funeral home.
