Smithville – Joanne Baker Pearce, 78, died January 13, 2011 at The Meadows in Fulton MS. Born in Wren, MS on July 24, 1932, she was a daughter of the late Robert Ellett and Ila Mae Farley Baker.
A loving and caring person, she married James Dudley Pearce on December 5, 1953. Mrs. Pearce was a Methodist. She worked in the furniture industry at Pullman Coach and Townhouse Penthouse Industries before her retirement. Mrs. Pearce loved working with animals and flowers and enjoyed gardening and watching birds.
She is survived by her husband, Dudley Pearce of Smithville; a daughter, Denise Carter(Woodrow) of Detroit AL, a son, Gary Pearce (Crystal) of Smithville; brother, Charles E Baker (Nan) of Shannon; sisters, Anita Hammock and Betty Harmon both of Amory; 5 grandchildren, Wesley Gilmore(Melisa), Matthew Gilmore, Jodie Gilmore(Consettia), Ashlyn Pearce, Barrett Pearce; 2 step-grandchildren, Gerald Carter(Veronica) and Rachel Robertson (James); 5 great-grandchildren, Tyler Gilmore, Kylie Gilmore, Addison Gilmore, Kirstin Tidwell and Kinsley Tidwell; 3 step-great-grandchildren, Laura Parker and Clint Carter and Travis Carter. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, James Robert Pearce; brother, David L. Baker.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 1 PM, Saturday at E. E. Pickle Funeral Home, Amory with Bro. Edward Puckett and Bro. Earl Farley officiating. Burial will follow in Haughton Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Wesley, Matthew and Jodie Gilmore, Ashlyn and Barrett Pearce, and Tyler Gilmore.
Visitation will continue until time for the service to begin.
