Amory - Geneva Joan Stanford, 75, died on Wednesday, July 3, 2013, at Gilmore Memorial Regional Medical Center. Born on August 25, 1937, in Amory, she was a daughter of the late Ollie Winfield and Geneva Rebecca Myatt Scott.

Mrs. Stanford was a graduate of Becker High School, Class of 1955. She married Willie R. “Pete” Stanford on July 1, 1955. Before retiring from Amory Garment, she had taught Preschool and Kindergarten at Amory Christian Academy. One who loved going to church, Mrs. Stanford was a member of Meadowood Baptist Church and was a former Sunday school teacher. Very loving and caring, she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, flower gardening, and being outdoors.

She is survived by her sons, Doug Stanford (Becky), Amory and Mark Stanford (Amy), Mooreville; sisters, Jean Cantrell, Amory; grandchildren, John Stanford (Casey), Beverly Stanford Wright (T. J.), Brady Stanford, Emma Stanford, and Jacob Reece Stanford; 5 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Evelyn Martin, and brothers, Hugh O. and George W. Scott.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11 AM, Saturday, July 6 at E. E. Pickle Funeral Home with Dr. Lloyd Sweatt officiating. Burial will follow in Harmony Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Joey Cantrell, Ray Gallop, Tony Parker, Jason Gallop, Phillip Wise, and T. J. Wright.

Visitation will be from 5 – 8 PM, Friday at the funeral home.
